Moondoggy is an alternative rock band formed in 2019 in Collingwood, Ontario. The band began playing together locally, performing house parties and small shows while developing their live set and recording material independently.
In 2020, Moondoggy relocated to Toronto. The move placed the band within a larger live music circuit, where they began playing regularly at DIY spaces and established venues. Over the next several years, the band focused on writing, recording, and releasing music while building an audience through consistent live performances.
The band consists of members Jakob Matanowitsch (vocals, guitar), Ben Matanowitsch (saxophone, acoustic guitar), Jonny Contini (lead guitar), Victor Carrillo (drums).
In 2023, Moondoggy released their debut full-length album, Mad s first major release and reached an international audience, accumulating over 14 million streams worldwide.
