Afrikaans Is Lekker 2026

A celebration of South African music.

Every year we bring the best Afrikaans artists to Canada. 2026 is the first time we will be including three of the best artists from South Africa: Kurt Darren is a South African singer, songwriter, and television presenter known for his energetic live performances, unique dance moves, and a string of hits in both English and Afrikaans.

He is sometimes referred to as the "Prince of Afrikaans music".

Elandré Schwart is a South African musician who, as a 19-year-old, studied at the Waterfront Theatre School in Cape Town.

He became famous after posting a video on social media where he sang Bruce Springsteen's "Tougher than the Rest".

Refentse Morake is a South African singer-songwriter who gained fame through viral videos singing in Afrikaans.

Discovered in 2015 while playing guitar, he was signed by Sony Music and has since released popular albums blending African and Afrikaans music styles.
