A cup of coffee that warms your hands on a rainy day; the feeling of wind rushing through the car window as you sing your heart out on the highway; songs that feel like “love letters set to music” (Kate Stevens, CKUA). Jed and the Valentine (Maria Khaner and Jonah Morris) weave glimmers of guitar and banjo with their soul-stirring vocals, carefully crafting their own personal brand of sun-dappled indie-folk. The duo had been dating for two years before they decided to start casually writing songs together, bringing their most vulnerable moments into music.
It was only months before they were invited to play at some of Canada’s major folk festivals, and in the year following, they released their debut album Awake! (2024).
