Joel Ostrom is a born and raised fourth generation Albertan. The son of ranchers and rodeo stars, Joel grew up on a farm just outside of Calgary. Though he initially followed in the footsteps of his parents and extended family by competing in the sport of rodeo, it wasn’t until he was in high school that he discovered his passion for music.

Growing up listening to country music on his mom’s collection of cassette tapes, he knew the kind of music he wanted to learn. After acquiring his first electric guitar, a Fender Telecaster, he immediately became hooked on the blistering fast country licks of artists like Vince Gill, Brent Mason and Brad Paisley.

After cutting his teeth on live music performance on the worship team of his church, he soon began gaining attention from musicians in Calgary’s country music scene and started working as a freelance guitarist for various country acts around Alberta.…
